Hosted by Butch Francisco and Boots Anson-Roa, the 31st URIAN awards gave out more than a dozen awards but it wasn’t the winners who went on the news reels. Tirador bagged best picture honors, and Cherie Pie Picache grabbed best actress the best actress award for Foster Child in a ceremony dominated by independent features.

The night however was shun by Rustom Padilla who presented the award cross dressed. The 43-year old former matinee idol came out in 2006 on the ABSCBN show Pinoy Big Brother.

The list of winners of the 31st Gawad Urian are as follows:

Best Picture: Tirador (Centerstage Productions)

Best Director: Brillante Mendoza (Tirador)

Best Screenplay: Jade Castro, Michiko Yamamoto, Raymond Lee (Endo)

Best Actress: Cherry Pie Picache (Foster Child)

Best Actors: Jason Abalos (Endo) and Sid Lucero (Selda)

Best Supporting Actress: Angela Ruiz (Tirador)

Best Supporting Actor: Emilio Garcia (Selda)

Best Production Design: Lav Diaz and Dante Perez (Death in the Land of Encantos)

Best Cinematography: Jeffrey dela Cruz, Brillante Mendoza, Gary Tria and Julius Villanueva (Tirador)

Best Editing: Aleks Castañeda (Tambolista)

Best Music: Francis de Veyra (Tribu)

Best Sound: Ditoy Aguila and Junel Valencia (Tirador)

Best Short Film: Rolyo by Alvin Yapan
