In the summer of 2003, members of the Filipino American Network (FAN) envisioned a unique event that would celebrate the work of Filipino and Filipino American filmmakers. This according to the Chicago Filipino American Film Festival began website.
I haven’t really heard of this until now but I do find it awesome that there is an event like this where Filipino film makers can show their work (..and to their people). And this November, they are gonna have this festival again with a feature that I hope attracts many students and seniors..
To celebrate its 5th anniversary, the Chicago Filipino American Film Festival (CFAFF) will provide free passes for all students and seniors during its weekend showcase of works by Filipino and Filipino-American filmmakers. The festival will be held at the newly refurbished Portage Theatre, on Chicago’s northwest side, during the weekend of November 7-9.
The free day passes can be used for all screenings during the selected day. Only full-time students or seniors aged 55 and over may receive a free day pass. The day passes will be awarded on a “first come, first serve” basis; and up to 900 free day passes will be provided for each day. [ source]
